Rizzis Park Closure

After The bike park being open for the past 11 years it has come to a time it needed to be closed. A lots of good memories has been passed at this skatepark, im sure it will be remembered for a while to come.
To make good spirits of the event Rizzis had a Jam/all nighter this Saturday and Lama Team was there to represent. Stephane, Louis, Croteau and myself came for the event.
The three made the trek Late friday night to meet up at my house as they arrived early saturday morning. We all tried to get our rest and woke up early saturday to get to the park just missing practice. The entire jam had a awesome vibe to it and looked like everyone was having a good time. Most of the highlights were caught on tape by Jake Vanderweyden and are in the video bellow.
Us four didnt have the energy to stick around for the all nighter but by the looks of the video coverage it was a fun time! Thanks to everyone who came out and helped Rizzis Last jam become a successful event.

Aaron Jack LaRocque interview

Aaron is a super gnarly guy and really nice. He has produced some of the sickest bike videos in the mountain bike industry and i dont think he is going to stop now. I got to do a little bit of filming with him a year or two ago and started to realize how rad he really is. I think everyone should read this interview From him!

Rays Odd Couples

Every year Ray likes to put on an event called Ray's Odd Couple Video Contest, and this year was no exception. Although the contest was a little different this year, as the teams were made up of only mountain bikers, instead of the traditional team of one mountain biker and one bmx rider. Also different from the previous years, the contest was held at the new Ray's location in Millwaulkee, Wisconsin.
I got the call a few weeks ago from Ray telling me that I was one of 5 riders invited to compete. I had a little trouble finding the right filmer and partner, but in the end I decided to have Justin Browne film, and Mike Gray, former bmx rider, switch over to MTB just for the event.
We left early to make the 9 hour trip to Milwaulkee, the day before all of the other riders flew into town. Once we got there we checked out the new park, as none of us had been there before. We were all pretty tired so we decided to get a good night's rest before filming the next day. Wednesday was an exciting day as all the other teams were just arriving and we got a little head start on some filming.
Second day was a little different as we planned to film most of our skit, and as you can see if you watched the video, Mike and I are great actors haha NOT. We got a handful of kids from the park who were more than happy to take part in our video, and did an even better acting job than we did.
The last day was full of pressure as all the teams were trying to cram all their time into filming their last clips to complete the video. The riders kept their ideas pretty quiet so not many knew what was going on. This made for a great show on Saturday when the videos were presented on a giant projection screen in the middle of the Subaru park.
Our team quailfied third but with the crowd's applause, we got bumped into first place, over big names like Mike Montgomery and Aaron Chase.
I met alot of amazing people like Mike Montgomery one of my favourite riders and lots of other awesome locals in the area which made for an awesome trip. I'd like to thank all of my sponsors and especially Ray Petro for putting on such an awesome contest.

Toronto bike show

The Toronto Internation Bike Show was this weekend march 4th till 6th. I made the trip down to toronto to check out the show. It was packed with people as i expected but the show itself wasnt so apealing to me other then a few things. Maybe because of the mass amount of road bikes which arent so much my thing but a bike is a bike. I know nothing about road bikes so didnt find that side of the show too interesting. I was lucky enough to get posters printed thanks to the guys here at Lama cycles too which i was signing at the Core booth all weekend.

There was alot of hanging out and socializing at the show. Everyone at the core booth is super chill to be around and hommies in the bike world. The MTB stunt coarse was a little bit of a disapointment this year with all the jumps being even smaller then last year and what i planned on riding in didnt actually come to be. I didnt ride the MTB event  which i was a little bummed about but partial reasoning is because my knee was a little hurt from a fall i took a week before the bike show. The riders still looked like they had a blast though making it all about fun and games on the coarse. After that i went and watched the BMX contest which is an annual event held at the bike show where pro riders come from all over the world to show off their talent. Big names like Drew Bezanson and Pat Casey threw down super hard but Pat Casey a young gun but already up in the big leagues took Drew out from his last years contest winning. All the riders rode super hard and made for one crazy show.
