Every year I make the trip out to Fernie bc to meet up with some friends and ride the local jumps for the Wam Bam Dirt Jump Jam. This year me and Aeron made the voyage out there and had an awesome time as usual. It was packed with tons of riders showing up to compete this year as it is now a bronze event in the Fmb world tour.
We showed up a couple days early since the jumps are always lots of fun to ride and its nice to kick back and just have fun riding the jumps leading up to some of the bigger contests.
It always starts off with the begginer and intermediate guys riding the smaller jumps and its always good to see the younger riders throwing down. After they finish up every one gets warmed up with a bunch of mini competitions on the small jumps, best boost, table, whip etc... It pretty much always turns into a best trick competition by the end with tailwhips, backflips and even a front flip getting thrown down on the little table tops.
It's always a good time doing the mini competitions and puts everyone in a great mood for best line on the main jump line. Qualifiers were a lot of fun with so many riders and new faces every year. Finals begin shortly after just as the sun has gone down for a sick night sesh. It's always a little different riding in the dark but with a couple carefully placed lights it can be tons of fun. I had some troubles with a tailwhip on the first jump in my first run so for my second I kept it simple with a griz air then went into a 360 on the second and a flip whip on the last jump. My run wasn't exactly what I'd hoped for but it was good enough for 7th and a couple more fmb points so I was happy with that.
Aeron brought the camera along and we got a couple clips during practice that he put together in this short video as well as some nice photos from Kyle Hamilton.
