Québec Ontario Challenge25 septembre
Last weekend, September 18th-20th, the Lama Cycles team made its way to the final race of the Provincial downhill series in Camp Fortune, Old Chelsea. It was also Canada's first Quebec/Ontario DH Challenge.
Here is how the challenge worked:
Over 2 days of racing (1 race per day) each rider representing their province was awarded points according to the position he or she finished in. At the end of each race, all the points were then added up from all the competitors for each province. Therefore the province that had the most points won the Trophy for Ontario/Quebec Challenge Champions.
The organizers and trail builders put in the extra effort in maintaining both track. The tracks were flowy if you were able to go fast enough, making it very fun to ride and practice on. Both tracks were pretty fast and rocky but, surprisingly, only called for a few braking points.
Guillaume finished second in the cadet category on both track. Guillaume's constant results allowed him to take home the Overall win for Men's cadet title on the 2009 Quebec Cup.
In the junior ex category, Philippe Cyrenne-Blanchard won both races! Lama team members were not surprised to see him climb up onto the highest step of the podium for the Overall.
In the senior elite category, Ben Rioux was back on his bike after more than two months off due to an injured wrist (broke his scaphoid in Mont Saint-Anne). Ben finished 10th and 9th. Not really satisfied with his results, Ben is looking forward to the 2010 race season!
