LamaCycles at Wam Bam 20137 août
Both "Kelownian" Lama/NS Bikes homies Garrett Robertson and Aeron Learmonth took part in the yearly classic Wam Bam jam in Fernie, B.C. Both of them had tons of fun and ended up doing well, finishing in 5th and 6th respectively. Here's their video edit riding the jumps the day after the jam.
"Wam Bam Dirt Jump Jam! My first event of the year that's actually somewhat close to home. It was awesome to be back shredding in B.C. again and Fernie is always such a fun place to come ride.
This was probably the best year yet, the jumps were buff, the sun was shining, they had a sick new whale tail on course. They even had the grillmaster cooking burgers for all the riders! Aeron and I showed up friday afternoon and started gearing up right away. The Jumps are super flowy and so much fun to mess around on. Unfortunately I crashed while riding up at Silverstar a couple days earlier and hurt my hand so I wasn't able to ride as much as I liked but it was okay as long as I kept things pretty smooth and they were the perfect jumps for that.
As the lights came out and the sun went down on saturday the event started and the enormous 65 rider field was trimmed down to 15 for finals. I was super stoked to see all the kelowna boys make it through. Finals went great and I got my first run with a backflip, 360, and a 3 whip to finish it off. My second run I did a flip whip on the first jump but cased a little bit and slid out, luckily my first run held up not too bad and I snuck onto the podium with 5th place. Aeron threw down two sick clean runs including a tuck no hander on the step down, into a barspin, 360 x-up, and a backflip tuck on the last jump for a 6th place finish.
After a successful finals Aeron and I headed over to the mulch to watch the best trick throwdown, I opted to sit out with my hand and i'm glad because everyone was throwing insane tricks! Nick was getting painfully close on cashrolls and Jeremy pulled his first backflip super seater. Tom ended up taking the win for the second year in a row with a huge double backflip."
